Pay your Council Tax

You can pay your Council Tax by Direct Debt, online, by phone, bank transfer, at the post office or by post.

Pay by Direct Debit

Set up a Direct Debit so your Council Tax payments are paid directly to us each month from your bank account. You don't have to remember to make your payment. You also have the reassurance of the Direct Debit guarantee.

Set up a Direct Debit by post

You can also set up a Direct Debit by post. You may need to do this, for example, if you have a joint account which requires 2 signatures or when the account is in a company name.

Pay by phone

You can pay using your debit or credit card over the phone. You will need your card details and Council Tax account reference.

Your information security

We will never ring you to ask for or confirm your bank details unless we have agreed to do so in advance. We will only take them when you call us to set up a direct debit or discuss your account.

Pay by bank transfer

You can pay your Council Tax by bank transfer. This can be done using online banking or over the phone with your bank. Payments can also be made easily from outside of the UK this way.

You must use your account reference number as the reference for your payment.

Pay at the Post Office

You can pay your Council Tax at the Post Office.

You will need to bring your Council Tax bill with you, as this contains your barcode. You will need this barcode in order to make a payment.

If you did not receive your bill, then please contact the Council Tax team on 020 7974 6470 and they will arrange for a new bill to be sent to you. 

It will not cost anything extra to pay your Council Tax at a Post Office branch.

You can pay up to £999 at one time at the Post Office.

Pay at a PayPoint

You can pay your Council Tax at a PayPoint with cash. Payments of up to £200 can be made at a Paypoint.

Pay by post

Please do not send cheques by post.

You can still pay your Council Tax using cheques or cash at the post office with your barcode.
