Holborn and Covent Garden: containers for household waste

We are testing new containers for household rubbish on streets in Holborn and Covent Garden. This is to make it easier for residents to put out their rubbish, as they can do it at any time of the day.

The containers are black and look similar to grit bins.

You can only use these containers if you live in a flat above a shop on:

  • Clerkenwell Road, in properties at 162 to 164 Clerkenwell Road
  • Farringdon Road, in properties at 39 to 73 Farringdon Road
  • Lamb's Conduit Passage, in properties at 8, 8B and 13 Lamb's Conduit Passage
  • Red Lion Street, in properties at 22 to 67 Red Lion Street
  • Sicilian Avenue, at 23 Sicilian Avenue

You must make sure that you:

  • securely tie your bags before putting them in the container
  • place your bags inside the container and then close the lid
  • do not put waste on top, next to or around the containers
  • do not put loose waste in the containers.

Rubbish should only be left in the containers and not on the street.

Recycling

Clear-bagged recycling should continue to be left out on the street, outside your property.  Contact Veolia if you need a new supply of orange rubbish bags or clear recycling bags.
