30 May: dissolution of Parliament

31 May: receipt of writ
Writs are legal documents that authorise holding a general election or by-election. Find out more about writs.
31 May: notice of election published
3 June: nominations open
The deadline to submit nomination papers has passed. Information for candidates and agents.
7 June: statement of persons nominated, notice of poll and situation of polling stations published
18 June: deadline to register to vote
This deadline has passed. You can no longer register to vote for the 4 July General Election.
19 June: deadline for postal vote applications
This deadline has passed. You can no longer apply to vote by post for the 4 July General Election.
26 June: deadline for proxy vote and Voter Authority Certificate applications
This deadline has passed. You can no longer apply to vote by proxy or apply for a Voter Authority Certificate for the 4 July General Election.
4 July: vote in person
- Polling stations are open between 7am to 10pm.
- You must vote at the polling station on your poll card. Find your polling station
- Remember to bring your photo ID or Voter Authority Certificate with you. You cannot vote without it.
- Deadline for an emergency proxy vote is 5pm
- Polling stations close at 10pm
- The count starts at 10pm after the close of the poll.
- Once the results are declared, each Constituency Notice will be published.
