You can vote in the general election if you’re registered to vote, aged 18 or over on the day of the election, and you’re a British, Irish or a qualifying Commonwealth citizen.

You now need photo ID to vote in person. Accepted forms of photo ID include:

You must bring the original – the ID can’t be a photocopy or digital copy. You can use expired ID – as long as the photo still looks like you. Your name should be the same on your photo ID and on the electoral register.
