Walking for leisure
Camden is definitely best seen on foot. Get out and about and enjoy a diverse mix of places from the heart of the city in Bloomsbury and Covent Garden to bustling shopping centres in Camden Town and Kilburn to the old villages of Hampstead and Highgate to the great open spaces of Regent’s Park and Hampstead Heath.
A number of organisations conduct walks in and around Camden and several companies offer guided walking tours.
The active health team arrange local walks twice a week, these are especially suitable for older people
Why not walk the borough at your own leisure using the many parks and open spaces or exploring the city along some of the signed walking routes such as:
Belsize Walk - Primrose Hill to Parliament Hill
From the edge of Regent's Park to the summit of Parliament Hill in Hampstead Heath, through Primrose Hill and the wonderful architectural heritage of Belsize. Look out for the silver waymarkers setting out the route.
The Jubilee Walkway
The idea of Her Majesty the Queen to celebrate her Silver Jubilee and the walk winds its way through central London with a new loop through Bloomsbury taking in the British Museum and British Library.
Silver coloured footway discs mark the route although look out for the special plaques and some new gold discs commemorating the Golden Jubilee. Visit their website for further information - www.jubileewalkway.com
The Regent’s Canal Towpath
A branch off the much longer Grand Union Canal and offers great walks within the borough from Regent's Park, London Zoo, Camden Lock Market, Pirates Castle and Camley Street Nature Park going to Little Venice, Victoria Park, Mile End Park and the Limehouse Basin beyond.

Heritage Walk Guides
Groundwork, in partnership with Camden and arts organisation Rise Phoenix have developed two of heritage walks in Euston and Kilburn, as part of a wider project to promote usage of local parks in Camden.
