The Health and Wellbeing Team runs free sessions and programmes to help get your child off to a healthy start. Get in touch to book onto one of their sessions or programmes (more details below):

Starting solids

The Department of Health recommends babies start on solid foods when they are around six months old. This free 90-minute session supports parents of babies who have not yet started solid foods. These sessions cover:

Families for Life –  Early Years

This is a free four-week healthy eating and active play programme for children aged two to four years and their parents/carers. Each session lasts 90 minutes and the programme covers:

  • tasty meal and snack ideas
  • easy ways to get your kids moving more
  • portion sizes and fussy eating
  • fun family cooking and eating sessions
  • healthy eating tips

Families for Life

This is a free 4 week programme of healthy eating and active games for families with children aged 2 - 11 years. Each session is 90 minutes and includes fun activities and cooking and tasting of simple recipes based on a specific theme such as budgeting, time, limited space and fussy eating.

 Family Kitchen

This is a free 6 week family cooking programme for families with children between 2 to 11 years. Each week families will have the opportunity to cook and eat healthy meals together.  Come along to learn healthy eating messages and new healthy recipe ideas!
