Our focus for Euston over the next few months is to understand the impacts and opportunities arising from HS2.
Community investment programme
A number of sites in this area were highlighted in the Community Investment Programme report approved by the Cabinet on 1 December 2010.
These sites present a range of opportunities to provide new and improved community facilities, new homes and improvements to existing Council housing:
The Government proposes to seek the necessary powers and consents for constructing any new high speed lines via the hybrid Bill process. Subject to the outcome of this consultation, the Government’s intention is that the necessary preparations, including a full Environmental Impact Assessment, should be carried out in time to introduce a hybrid Bill for the initial London-West Midlands phase of the proposed network in October 2013, with a view to achieving Royal Assent at the beginning of 2015.
It is important to note that HS2 is a proposal brought forward by the Government; it is not the council’s decision whether the proposal go ahead.
