Camden Town is internationally renowned as one of the most dynamic and unique places in London.
Iconic for its alternative fashions and acclaimed music scene, the markets, shops and entertainment venues draw the crowds in their thousands, but behind the behind the buzz and bustle Camden Town is home to large diverse residential communities and a thriving and innovative business environment.
Seeped in history the area has a rich architectural heritage, with the Regent's Canal running through its heart and open spaces such Primrose Hill adding to the quality of the environment.
Camden Town is a successful town centre, and balancing the needs of residents, businesses and visitors is an on-going challenge. The council wants to find ways to support positive change in the area so it continues to evolve and improve whilst retaining its unique character into the future.
Place Plan update 2013
Many representatives of local groups and organisations have been actively involved in the development of updating the objectives and actions of the Plan adopted in 2010 and attended our consultation workshops.
The place plan update is designated to have a real influence on the Camden Town area. It involves working with communities and stakeholders to understand local priorities, challenges and opportunities.
It sets out how we direct resources available in the area and includes a set of actions to ensure that changes in the area deliver services, facilities and public spaces that work for people who live in the area and those who work in and visit it.
The place plan update was approved in December 2013.
