Conservation areas
Camden has a total of 39 conservation areas covering 11km2 (approximately 50 per cent of the borough). The information within this section will help you understand what conservation areas are, where they are found within the borough and what implications their designation has on carrying out work on properties located within such areas.
Tree Preservation Orders
Tree Preservation Orders are issued to give legal protection to trees or woodland. The information within this section will help you understand what Tree Preservation Orders are, how they are issued and what action is required before carrying out work to trees afforded with this protection.

Archaeological sites and ancient monuments
Camden has one designated ancient monument, Boadicea’s mound on Hampstead Heath, which is managed by the Corporation of London. The information within this section will help you understand what our role is in terms of protecting archaeological sites and ancient monuments within the borough, and how we work with other organisations to protect, preserve and enhance sites of archaeological interest and their settings.
