Council tax

It has come to our attention that local residents have been receiving “hoax” telephone calls from individuals purporting to be Council Officers. Read more about it here

We are now sending out revised council tax bills for residents on the Chalcots Estate, showing a credit for the time we had to evacuate the residents. For some people, your new instalments may be higher than those you were paying previously. This is because the amount you have held back from paying, or the direct debits we have not collected, exceed the credit we have given you. The difference has been spread over your remaining instalments, making them higher. Rest assured, you will still end up paying less council tax by the end of the year.

Important message

It has come to our attention that local residents have been receiving “hoax” telephone calls from individuals purporting to be Council Officers. They have been asking local residents to provide their personal bank details in order that they can claim a council tax refund.

We never ring callers to ask for or confirm bank details. We will only take them when customers call us to set up a direct debit or discuss their account which leads to a direct debit arrangement.
