Our ways of working
We have a clear, ambitious vision and plan to deliver a difference to the people of Camden.
Our vision is to make Camden a better borough — a place where everyone has a chance to succeed and where nobody gets left behind. We’re going to create a place that works for everyone.
Our plan is to make the most of the economic growth of the borough, build sustainable communities, improve services to get things right first time, find new solutions to long standing complex challenges and bring strategic leadership to strengthen and build new partnerships.
Our staff are at the heart of being able to deliver the Camden Plan and we will need to transform the way we do things and work in new and different ways to achieve this.
Our Ways of Working are about who we are as an organisation, and what we need to do to succeed in the future. They were updated and revised 2 years ago to describe the kind of organisation we need to become. They are our short-hand for change. In common with everyone in our sector we are experiencing a prolonged period of change.
The Ways of Working have to become our way, The Camden Way of focusing how we will tackle these changes. It is relevant to everyone in Camden - those just joining and every single person already in the organisation
We are Camden when we:
Deliver for the people of Camden We always remember that we are here for the residents, businesses and communities of Camden; so the people of Camden know we are acting on their behalf. We actively respond to and learn from what they say about us.
Work as one team We work together as ‘one Camden’ with colleagues and partners to make a difference to the people of Camden. We share information, learning and working practices, and join things up for our residents. The challenges we face are bigger than any one of us, any team or any single organisation. By acting together we will deliver the Camden plan.
Take pride in getting it right We take personal pride in delivering the right services, right first time. We go the extra mile to meet the expectations our residents, businesses and communities have of us. We take personal responsibility for getting things done.
Find better ways We find new and innovative ways to deliver results that matter for the people of Camden, and use our resources ever more efficiently to deliver value for money. We take advantage of changes in technology to create exciting opportunities to rethink and change the way we work. We learn from experience and feedback; and challenge each other so that we are the best we can be.
Take a lead We are inspired to take a lead – sometimes on big projects, sometimes in much smaller individual ways. We are clear about the expectations and rules that the organisation has set out for all of us. We take the initiative at all levels and are flexible and pro-active in solving problems within in our everyday roles.
