King’s Cross Construction Skills Centre

The King’s Cross Construction Skills Centre (KXCSC) is here to assist Camden residents who wish to find training, apprenticeships and job opportunities within the construction industry.

Alternatively, if you are an employer, contractor or sub-contractor looking to recruit skilled construction workers or take on apprentices, then we provide a free service here to help you achieve this.

The support available includes:

  • Access to a range of apprenticeships and employer-led training opportunities
  • Job vacancy matching
  • CSCS health and safety card
  • Information, advice and guidance on a one to one basis
  • CV workshops
  • Interview skills training
  • Motivational skills training and confidence building
  • Career advice, including access to apprenticeships, placements and jobs; and
  • Post- employment support

Apprenticeships in construction

The construction industry is one of the largest industries in the UK. The King’s Cross Construction Skills Centre, in partnership with College of North West London, offer a range of pre apprenticeships and apprenticeships to help you learn a trade.

The KXCSC apprenticeship programme delivered by College of North West London is open to people between the ages of 16-18, who live in Camden and Islington. These apprenticeships include:
  • Carpentry and Joinery
  • Interior Systems; and
  • Groundworks
In addition to these three trades, KXCSC offer a wide range of construction trade apprenticeships to people between the ages of 16 and 24, in trades such as:
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical
  • Painting and decorating
  • Site technician
  • Bricklaying
  • Plastering; and
  • Drylining
