In March 2014 Camden Council became the country’s first ever Timewise Council. Camden is one of a number of public and private sector organisations that have linked up with Timewise with a shared objective of supporting and promoting flexible working as one way to improve workplace equality and reduce maternal unemployment.
Established in 2004, the Timewise Foundation works to promote the social benefits of quality part-time working and aims to build a high quality part-time and flexible job market to create greater choice for everyone who needs flexibility in their career.
There are many forms of flexible working, including part-time working, compressed hours and flexi-time, which have clear benefits for employees, including the opportunity to blend work with caring responsibilities and the potential for reduced stress. The potential benefits for businesses are numerous.
Every employee now has the statutory right to request flexible working after 26 weeks of employment. So, as an employer, it pays to be informed and access support and guidance around flexible working.
