Get active in your park

Green gyms

The Oasis Garden Green Gym is an exciting new project to develop a new food growing space at the Oasis sports centre in Covent Garden. Once complete, it will provide an interactive and relaxing green space for local people to enjoy.

The first phase of the project involved volunteers creating the space and building the raised beds ready for planting in the spring. We are now moving into the second phase of the project and looking for volunteers to take part in a range of tasks through outdoor exercises, from seeding plants to growing vegetables.

The Oasis Green Gym is being developed in conjunction with Pro-Active Camden, Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL) and the council’s parks, public health and physical activity teams.

What’s involved?

An experienced leader will run through tool safety and the tasks for the day. There will be different jobs from digging over the beds to sowing seeds. There will also be a chance for you to harvest some of the produce to take home.

The sessions are open to all, and you don’t need any previous experience.  Each session starts and ends with gentle warm up exercises to reduce the risk of injuries.

How do I book?

You can book a place for just one session or get involved as and when you can. The sessions are free and take place every Saturday from 10am until 1pm. To book your place on a session contact Michele Taylor on 07717494476, or email GG-Oasis@tcv.org.uk
