Versed in History: poetry inspired by Camden's archive collection

Introduction

Camden Local Studies and Archives Centre ran a competition for poetry inspired by items in its collection. Subsequently we mounted an exhibition entitled Versed in History in which a selection of the poems entered in the competition were displayed alongside some of the historical items which inspired them as well as other related archives in our custody. I hope you enjoy this website version of the exhibition.

We would like to thank: all the poets who have kindly given their permission for their work to be reproduced here; the London Society and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills who provided funding for the competition and exhibition; and Cicely Herbert, Ann Langton and Edwin Webb who kindly judged the competition and selected the poems displayed here.
