Site allocations development plan

Our site allocations document forms part of the Local Development Framework for Camden and will set out some guidelines for future development on significant sites which have been or are likely to be subject to development proposals. It applies to sites across the borough. At the same time we are also preparing guidance on sites in the Fitzrovia area, which will be set out in the Fitzrovia Area Action Plan

The Site Allocations will replace LU1 - Schedule of Land Use Proposals of our Unitary Development Plan.

Previous stages in the preparation of the site allocations

Further sites consultation

From November 2010 to January 2011, we carried out consultation on the inclusion of a number of additional sites in our Site Allocations document. This followed on from the Preferred approach consultation carried out between November 2009 and January 2010 and the Issues and options consultation that was carried out in 2008:

Preferred approach consultation (November 2009 to January 2010)

The Preferred Approach consultation was the second main consultation stage in preparing the Site Allocations DPD. It followed on from our Issues and Options consultation in 2008 and sets out a suggested approach to the future development of the boroughs major sites:

Issues and Options Consultation (October to November 2008)

The issues and options consultation was the first main consultation stage in preparing the Site Allocations DPD.

It sought views on potential development sites within the borough. We have used this consultation to assist developing our preferred approach.

Sites suggested for future development (February 2008)

During February and March 2008 we invited landowners, developers, agents and other interested parties to suggest sites for potential development or redevelopment that they may want included within this document.

We received a number of responses relating to various sites of which most have been included for consideration through the Site Allocations consultation document.

Sustainability appraisal

The progression of the Site Allocations document is carried out in conjunction with the Sustainability Appraisal which aims to ensure that planning documents are informed by sustainability principles at an early stage in the process. This means that the social, economic and environmental decisions taken in the plans consider the needs of future generations:
