Revised Statement of Community Involvement 2016

What is the Statement of Community Involvement?

Our Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out how we will involve local people, local businesses and other key organisations and stakeholders when we prepare our planning policies and consider planning applications. All local planning authorities must have an up to date SCI. We consulted on our revised SCI in 2015/2016. In April 2016 Camden’s Cabinet decided to adopt the revised SCI which includes the proposal to stop sending letters.

What are the proposed changes?

From 1st October 2016 we will no longer send neighbour notification letters about planning applications, we will replace them with:

  • new and improved site notices;
  • improved email alerts – create email alerts for planning applications within 500 metres of your property, or for specific wards. This includes new applications, decisions, and appeals and a direct link to the application details, documents and drawings;
  • a planning section in the Camden Account;
  • improved press adverts in the Camden New Journal and the Ham & High;
  • an online map showing all applications received in the last 7 days.
The SCI also includes the introduction of the local plan, neighbourhood planning and the duty to co-operate.
